Site Rules

Rules regarding how to act when you're playing the game.

  1. You must be over 13 years of age to participate in this game. If you are younger than 13, you are allowed to play, but you must have written parental permission.
  2. Do not behave rudely to other players. You don't have to like them, but do mind your manners.
  3. Each member may have a total of one free account.
  4. You may not create new accounts if your previous account(s) have been suspended.
  5. Players must not take advantage of problems with the game code. Any problems/bugs/errors should be reported immediately.
  6. Animal names must not contain references to sex, racial slurs, threats, vulgarity, drugs or alcohol consumption. They can be edited or deleted without warning if the administration thinks they are inappropriate.
  7. Any of the following things are prohibited on Best of Breed: offensive or rude behaviour, harrassment of other players; discussion of the following topics: Sex, alcohol, drugs, violence, other chat rooms, any online game other than Best of Breed; posting of weblinks not directly dog related; spamming links to other online games; profanity; impersonating another player or game administrator.

  8. All members are expected to use appropriate behaviour. This means no swearing, spamming or general disturbance. I can, and will, bite back.
  9. No posting, advertising or recruiting for other games without prior written permission from Jasmine.
  10. No sending chain emails or group emails of any kind other than Best of Breed related to Best of Breed members.
  11. Any official has the authority to expell or suspend members who violate any of these rules.
  12. Do not under any circumstance(s) give your password to any other player.
  13. Any members using pictures of real animals to predict their sim animals must gain permission of the picture taker first. A template to do so is provided within the forum for members. If one of our member's sites has a picture without permission from you, feel free to email me and I shall remove their site as it's a violation of our rules.
  14. If you don't become active within a month after recieving your acceptance email, or you aren't active for over a month straight, your account will be deleted, and you will have to reapply to join.

Game Play

Rules to do with the game itself.

  1. Every new free member starts off with $50,000 and is permitted to create five animals. This is five animals all up, and not five animals of each species. You are also permitted to have three breedings per Best of Breed year.
  2. Free members are permitted a maximum of twenty animals total.
  3. You can't create a kennels/stables/cattery/business/registry until you have been an active member for over a month, there will be special circumstances I may consider, but this is very rare.

  4. All animals must be boarded at an approved facility within one week of creation.

  5. All animals age one year every six months. Six months is one Best of Breed year.

  6. All animals must be registered before they are allowed to be shown in any form.

  7. No two animals can have the same name.

  8. Should you wish to quit, please contact me so arrangements can be made for your animals.

  9. All animals must be three years of age or over to be bred.

  10. You must own a stable/kennel/cattery or registry to run a show. In other words, you must have the appropriate facility to host the show.

  11. All show hosts must check entries. Fines will be issued for incorrect entries to both the person who entered the show and the host.

  12. All businesses/registries/boarding and private facilities must be approved by the Approval Committee.

  13. When you breed your animals, it takes one month for the babies to be born.

  14. After a litter has been born, it'll need to be registered. If they haven't been registered within one week, they will be sold.

  15. You aren't allowed to breed animals until you've been an active member for over a month.

  16. Points can be inherited if one of the parents has champion status. The points are then added as such: Sire's points plus dam's points divided by twenty.

  17. To become a trainer of dogs or horses, you have to take a test.

  18. You must wait one real time month before you apply to take another test. If you failed, you must wait one month to resit it.

  19. You have to have been an active member for at least a month before you apply to become a trainer.
  20. It takes animals one week before they are considered trained in that discipline.
  21. If you choose a path of training, you must start at the lowest level and work your way up. For example, you must be a trainer in preliminary dressage before you are allowed to apply to be a novice dressage trainer.

Dog and Cat Rules

Rules to do with the dogs and cats within the game.

  1. Once a pet has been issued a genotype, the only way of changing it is if you go to the vet and get hip/elbow surgery done. Then the hip/elbow score goes down. Nothing else can be changed.
  2. Animals with poor hips and/or severe elbows/patellas are classed as pet quality animals, and can't be shown in conformation classes.
  3. Mixed breeds and pet quality animals can't be shown in conformation classes, but can be shown in ribbon parades and activities.
  4. Depending on their hip and elbow scores, pets will become deceased at different ages.

Horse Rules

Rules to do with the horses within the game.

  1. No race horse can be trained in any other discipline, and they cannot be bred till they're retired from racing.

  2. Horses live till fifteen years of age.

  3. All horses must be trained in whatever discipline you plan to show them in. To do this, you must take them to a trainer.

  4. Horses must be broken in before they can be trained for anything else.

  5. Horses cannot be broken in until they are three years of age.
